Good morning, Julie. I hope you are feeling better. One of the nice things about having this kind of project is that you can continue to work on it at home - regardless of the time on the clock (unlike school).
Your next step is to print a copy of the paper that you chose to read and start reading it. I have no doubt that you'll find this challenging - but I also have confidence that you'll be able to sort through the original work and find some surprises along the way. I would like for you to keep a list of questions that come up as you read. I don't expect you to read it all in one sitting. Read a while, ask some questions (post them here), read a little more, post some more questions, etc.
I will be interested to read what you discover and what questions you ask.

Fajans and Einstein
You're doing a great job...I know this is not what you're used to in a science class...but stick with it! I would like for you to see if you can find any evidence on the internet as to whether Fajans and Einstein worked together. They may or may not have...I'm curious to see what you can find. Also, I think you may have missed something that I asked earlier - about radioactive decay. See if you can find out what happens to the atomic number and mass number of a nucleus with an alpha particle is emitted (released) and when a beta particle is released. I may have forgotten to tell you, but please keep a record of the websites you use for your responses. That will be important later on. You could post them here and then you'd be able to find them quickly.

Further Questions
OK - good work, so far. I have posted your original responses below this paragraph. Below that are some things I would like for you to further investigate.
1. THe coelum philosophorum:i think this has to do with the wisdom of the human body
2. this was in the 1500's(no definate date): other things going on is:christopher columbus sailed his 4th voyage, fisrst cacao beans were shiped, peter henlein, german, created first watch, brides began to carry bouquets of flowers to hide their smell, Juan Cabillo was first to explore the coast of california
3. born either nov.11 or dec.17 1493, born and raised in switzerland, when young worked in mines, attended university of basil, and recieved a doctorate degree at university of ferrara, credited as first clinical/scientific mention of the unconscious

this is julie and the first comment was mine. sorry
1. Rasioactive Transfermations and the Periodic System of elements: changing particals that emitt from the nuclei and the table that embodies the most fundamental pricipals of science.
2. in 1913: post offices begal parcel deliveries, the National Woman's Party was formed, the 16th amendment was ratified, the first minimam wage law in the U.S. took effect in Oregon, the First prize was inserted in the Cracker Jack box, the first Cross Word Puzzle was published in the New York World, and the first home electronic refridgerator was put on the market.
3. Kasimir Fajans was born on May 27, 1887 in Warsaw, he died on May 18, 1975. He dicovered radioactive displacement law (along with Frederik Soddy) and attended the University of Leipzig, Heidelburg,Zurich, and Manchester. and some time during all of his reseaching became a neutralized citizen on the U.S. in 1942.

Questions:
1. What does the law of radioactive displacement tell us about radioactive decay in the nucleus (when a nucleus releases an alpha or a beta particle - what happens to the mass and atomic numbers)?
2. When did Fajans emigrate from Poland to the US? What was going on in Europe at that time?
